Are you among 30,000,000 Americans who are facing loss of access to affordable healthcare? If not, I bet you know someone who is, because the number of people affected is 15% of the population.
This web site 30millionlike.me was built by one person (me) among many who fear about their future thanks to a new Congress that wishes to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act because… why ?? because they made a campaign statement?
I want those pondering decisions to take away health insurance from 30 million people to know directly the people whose lives they are spinning into undertainty.
If you or someone else you know is facing potential devastation of their health, well-being, and way of living, please encourage them to add their story here. There are 13 published ACA stories here which means we only have 29,999,987 remaining to collect. Are you ready to add yours now?
My name is Alan Levine. I am self-employed, I am Type 1 diabetic, and since 2013 I have counted on ACA to be a productive, healthy citizen — My own is the first of 30 Million Stories that I hope fill this site. See the stories collected so far (right now, it’s not many, I need your help).
With a new administration of 2017 all of what I have relied on to maintain my living is in doubt. Taking away access to health insurance seems as arbitrary and unfair as when I was seven years old, learning I was diagnosed with a condition that meant for the rest for my life I would have to take daily insulin injections (and never eat candy again).
Putting aside the politics of ACA is nearly impossible. I had as many complaints about how it worked as anybody– but I will take a problematic system over none at all. But this site exists to put human faces and experiences onto those numbers.
I want those making decisions to take away health insurance from 30 million people to know the people whose lives they are affecting.
Repealing the ACA without any coherent plan in place, puts millions of people like us in a place of uncertainty and doubt as to how to maintain a living, how to pay for our medical needs, how to keep our homes.

I’ve been frustrated that all of this is happening; venting in social media does nothing. I’ve called, emailed, and written letters to my representatives. It feels like I am tossing pebbles in the ocean.
What I can do is build a place to collect in one place, other people’s stories, and a means to get these stories in front of those (insured) people who do not want us to have our own health insurance.
I have room here for 30,000,000 stories. Or more. Can you comprehend the scale of the number of people affected? I wrote up some comparisons to put that number in perspective.
If you currently have ACA coverage, please add your story. If you have access to health insurance through employment, a spouse, other programs, you should be very thankful. But there are people around you right now, who do not. Help them.
Spread the Word!
And when we have a lot of them, we will get them in front of our Congressional Representatives so they know personally what they are doing to us. Please keep the heat on Congress. A lot of heat. Apply some right now!

We Are Not Alone in the Fight
About this site…
I should add that this project is all my own idea and responsibility. There is no organization funding this, no one is going to pester you for donations or spam your inbox. I am doing this because I cannot sit idly by while so many lives are being undermined by what I see as narrow thinking. And this is one thing I have the skills to do.
Hey! What are you doing way down here? Go write a story or help someone else write theirs.
